  • 2 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)


1. Prepare the horse gram lentils:

  • Rinse the soaked horse gram lentils and drain the water. Place the lentils in a pressure cooker and add 4 cups of water to the pot. Cook on high pressure for 15 to 20 minutes or until the lentils are tender and fully cooked. As an alternative, you can also cook the lentils in a saucepan on the stove until they are soft and tender.

  • Heat the ghee or oil in a separate frying pan over a medium heat.

  • Mix well and simmer on a low heat for 5-10 minutes.
